Handmade Kids Clever People Challenge

So back in August I was selected to take part in the Handmade Kids Clever People Challenge, and I received a bag of goodies to do with whatever I pleased. I got a remnant of white Minkee, A FQ of Michael Miller's Lively Letters, 3 pieces of ribbon and 2 buttons. I had an idea in my head for a little while and then the night that I started making it I totally changed my mind. So this is what I came up with... It is a Newborn Set comprising a totally cute pair of Ruffle Pants (courtesy of a Bettsy Kingston pattern), a matching singlet and a taggie mini blanket toy. I think it has turned out well and I can't wait to make more of the pants - might be onto a winner there, so expect to see a few more popping up here and there, would be good to have an overlocker though, oh well one day. Of course I had to get my little model to take everything for a test run so that I knew what it all looked like, and I think it looked pretty darn cute! Don't you agree... this girl deserves some ruffle pants of her own!

Guest Blogger TIme!

Once upon a time a cheeky husband talked (pestered) his wife into letting him guest blog on her site... and wouldn't you know it, she let him.

Today was a windy day in the city of churches and a very uneventful one in our house; so let me call on my powers of imagination to blog about the day that "could" have been:

"As the sun started pouring through the front room of our house (our bedroom), the nanny played pirates with Stella & Oscar in the kids wing. India snuggled cosily in her cot, sleeping [literally] like a baby, a good baby who loves her parents to have sleep-ins.

At somewhere around 10am I roll over, stretch out, review the bedside clock and reach for my phone. I type S-U-R-F and dial the local surf report; 'glassy 2 to 3 foot waves all along the mid coast', is all I need to hear. I give Mrs EdanRose a kiss on her forehead, jump in to my wetsuit and stroll down to the beach. It's me and a dozen other locals enjoying a beautiful spring morning.

By the time I got home the nanny had the kids seated for lunch and Megs had ducked out for a facial. The poached free-range eggs with organic freshly squeezed juice went down a treat and I spent the rest of the afternoon reading with the kids and teaching them to write their names on the Etcher Sketcher.

Mrs EdanRose strolled back in at about 3 looking stunning and relaxed; she proceeded to laze on the couch doing some cocooning, while the kids played together with the trucks (not one fight brought out).

The kids got put to bed nice and early leaving Megs and I to have grown up conversation all night long - also the Broncos won...

But thats not how our Saturday was spent; so hopefully Sunday gets closer to that. I'll let you know with my next exciting update (If Megs lets me Blog again...)

Doll Quilt Swap 7 and something for tomorrow...

I participated in a Doll Quilt Swap over on flickr during Aug/Sep and I sent my quilt off to the other side of the world a couple of weeks ago (Can't say too much as the recipient hasn't confirmed whether or not they have received it yet). It was heaps of fun and I think the finished product looked pretty good. It is my first attempt at quilting and I am looking forward to doing more - especially seen as though I want to start selling Baby Quilts in my Etsy store. Now I am waiting by the mailbox until my own little Doll Quilt turns up and the anticipation is almost too much, was hoping it would be here by today but unfortunately not - surely it will be here next week though! Fingers Crossed....

In other news, tomorrow there will be a guest blogger for you, a certain someone has been hassling me to get on here and do a post so I have given in. You must let me know what you think and that way, we will see if it is going to happen again.

Anyway, not looking forward to tomorrow too much, husband will be out of action seen as though it is Grand Final Day here - I'm sure some of you will be in the same boat as me! Wish there was something so earth-shattering for us, that our "others" knew that we were unreachable for a whole day!!!!! I wish!!!!

Beautiful Blue Eyes and Kindy

Well as I said yesterday Stella had her last day at Kindy today for the term and after the holidays she goes back 3 days a week!! Yahoo! They were allowed to come dressed up, so she wore her tutu and fairy wings, it is still relatively cool here at the moment hence the t-shirt and tights underneath. Also managed to click some beautiful shots on Indi when we were in the car leaving Kindy, wow she has amazing eyes and eyelashes, hope she keeps them for the years to come. Nothing much else happening around here at the moment, have been finishing off an order tonight and other than that I watched Glee which was pretty funny and then got my fix of The Amazing Race. I am really looking forward to the weekend, need to get some housework done and need Paul to take the kids off my hands to be able to do that! Something has gone completely wrong with my google reader at the moment which is really annoying, by the time I get it sorted I am sure I will have 1000's of posts to read. Oh well I am going to sign off for tonight and I will be back tomorrow!

Not sure what to say...

Well I am keeping up with my posting everyday, but it is very late and I can't think of anything terribly exciting to write about. I have been researching Etsy to find some new OOAK yarns to purchase for some different Cocoons, there are some lovely yarns out there, but being OOAK it means they will push the prices up, but I think it will still be worth it. Had another sale today of 3 Cocoons so that was good and 2 of the 3 I had in stock so not too much frantic knitting necessary. Anyway, I will try and come up with something more exciting to write about tomorrow (today it is after 1am), Stella's last day of Kindy today before holidays and it is dress up day, so I will try to remember to take some photos. Until then..il_430xN.83841269.jpg

Rose Park Baby And Kids Market

I did this Market about a week ago and it was quite successful - not absolutely successful but positive none the less. It was quite a cold and windy day, so windy that throughout the day most peoples gazebos took off, which was a little scary and then the rain hit and it was time to pack up and call it a day. Had a number of sales and gave out a heap of business cards and a couple of orders to come through the website, had some more wholesale enquiries, which as I said yesterday is currently taking up a lot of my thoughts.
While I was at the markets Paul, Mum and the Kids came and visited me and the kids got their faces painted - Oscar is big on flowers at the moment so of course he asked for some flowers on his face and Stella got a butterfly. Was pretty tired once the day was over, and was happy that I didn't have to start another Cocoon as soon as I got home, it was nice to have a few nights without a cocoon on the go!

Slack,slack,slack, slack SLACK!

Ok, so I am obviously not great at blogging, yet! But I am going to make a really big effort to post every day for the next month - so sorry if things get boring because I might not have too much exciting stuff to say every day of the month. But I figure I have to start making it a habit and doesn't something become a habit if you do it continuously for 21 days? I figure I need to make it the whole month so that it sticks.

Well what has been happening over the last month or so.... Lets see, Stella turned 4! Oh my goodness my baby is really growing up. My sister was in Adelaide for work for 2 weeks so we had lots of catch ups with her. Mum came and stayed for 10 days. I completed my DQS7 of which I will post pics later. Indi started to put on some decent weight - she is now 6 months old and has hit the 6.5kg mark, yay! I did another market - more on that later too. Now I am working on my handmade challenge which I will post about in the next few days when it is finished. So that is a bit of what has been happening over here, I will elaborate on some of these things in some upcoming posts. I am really up in the air about which way to go with my Cocoons at the moment. They have been really popular which is great, and I have been getting a lot of interest about wholesaling, but I am just not sure if I want to do that, or if it is worth me doing it, really need some advice on this, so feel free to give me your 2 cents worth. Obviously I would get more exposure from wholesaling but does it mean I have to put my prices up to be able to still make some money on them?? All these things to consider. Anyway, I will be back tomorrow with something to natter about :)
